The series is a narration of a young boy’s life. Benedek is 11 years old, he started fifth grade in September, collects minerals and has a sister Bori, who has rett syndrome. The project deliberately navigates the shared time and space between Benedek and Bori, utilizing their relationship as a pivotal lens through which to explore the intricacies of Benedek’s experiences and emotions. Rett syndrome is a rare genetic postnatal neurological disorder that occurs almost exclusively in girls and leads to severe impairments, affecting nearly every aspect of the child’s life: their ability to speak, walk, eat, and even breathe easily. The hallmark of Rett syndrome is near constant repetitive hand movements while awake.
